Fire Reference Sheet

A reference sheet for drawing fire that I made for myself while working on the webcomic. A range of flames from red hot to white hot. At one point we considered giving one of the characters the power to wield some kind of otherworldly blue fire, but the idea was ultimately cut from the story.

Elemental Magic Concepts

These are rough sketches I used to work out how Eyala’s fire magic and Raff's ice magic might look in the webcomic. I knew early on I wanted to have some sort of flashing effect appear when characters used magic, partly because it would be an easy way to visually communicate to the reader that magic is happening, and partly because I just thought it would look cool. Also, because I’m a sucker for when characters have specific colors associated with them, the color of the flash varies from character to character.
